This year, London Restaurant Festival is supporting sustainability in the restaurant industry.
We are working with our partners and restaurants across the festival to help battle food waste and bringing awareness to our audience.
Below we have highlighted some of our key partners who are leading the way for sustainability, their stories can be explored below. We are also hosting three, special events, focusing on sustainability within the restaurant industry, hosted at Wright Brothers, Natural Kitchen and Scully.
Step-up to the plate
Show your support in reducing food waste in the restaurant industry by signing up to DEFRA’s ‘Step up to the plate’ pledge and let’s halve food waste together by 2030.
For Estrella Galicia, sustainability is one of the corner stones of our business. It forms part of our brand identity, for what we do, how we do it and its impact in the society and the environment, always looking forward to generate a positive effect on our environment. To support our local farmers and infrastructure, we have created a project; “El Mercado de la Cosecha” (The harvest market), aiding to safeguard the environment. Support for this incentive is given through events such as SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia.
Building year on year, introducing new technical imporvements to reduce energy consumption. ,Last year, Estrella Galicia began using sub-products from their production to feed local livestock.
Estrella Galicia is now among the top Spanish breweries, is the one using the highest number of returnable bottles, meaning already more than the 60% of our total production.
Crown Estate, Food Waste Pledge
Recognising the importance of the UK’s food waste crisis. Regent Street & St James’s have created a pioneering food waste pledge. Made up of a network of 10 restaurants they aim to reduce food waste by 25% by May 2020.
Proud to be the first destinations in the UK to introduce a campaign of this kind, the pledge unites leading restaurants and cafés which share the vision of reducing their environmental impact and offering more choice to diners.
Andaz Liverpool Street London
In 2018 the hotel was also awarded the AEE (Association of Energy Engineers) Award for our Monitor & Save project. Andaz London Liverpool Street, in line with Hyatt’s overall sustainability strategy, is committed to operate in an environmentally conscious way and are continuously increasing their green efforts to become more sustainable.The hotel houses 6 restaurants and bars so has focused on energy saving initiatives like the elimination of plastic across our hotel operations and transition into bio degradable alternatives across the F&B department. Initiatives have also included, reduction carbon footprint through focus on seasonal menus.
As a team of foodies, our dedicated chefs have been busy in the kitchen working on minimising our daily food waste, including a selection of vegan and vegetarian menu options for all festive occasions. The hotel’s Green Christmas will also see decorations made out of recycled materials collected at the hotel like old lightbulb baubles or live Christmas trees that can be planted once again and continue growing for future years.

This exclusive five-course Jerusalem-inspired Tasting Menu showcases a truly eclectic array of Mediterranean flavours. This includes sparkling wine on arrival and wine.
